I unsuccessfully tried to upload some photos earlier, could someone post the steps?
I had the hang of it on the atlas forum, and I do not have a third party photo site, and don't plan to. Is there another work around method?
Thanks guys.

Nice Karl! Green is such a "cool" color.
@anthony:
You can use the attachment feature to upload, but it requires downloading the attachment to view it. Otherwise, you will need a third-party to hose the photos, and use the [ img ] [ /img ] method.
I'll see if there is any other way to post photos directly to the forum.

Photo attachment test... And here is one from the atlas forum. I had a method where I uploaded them to their site, using it as a third party host, and just putting the link between the img symbols. forum.atlasrr.com/forum/data/ARandall70/201222773725_Norfolk Southern Heritage Unit2.jpg[/img] This was before the NS 8114 was done, I know its not exact but it turned out close. I think its funny I can still link to photos from the atlas forum. Attachments:

That is a nice looking model, Genesis?? CZ Why thank you, yes it is. I've been extremely impressed with these units from Athearn. I would buy more if they hadn't flopped on the number font on the 2699 and 2684. Doh! I hope they do the ACe's in the NS 1000 series. I'd like to get or renumber one to 1010 as thats my birthday.

The Ace model will probably be coming down the line later on when it can be scheduled. My era for model trains is late 1940's up to the end of steam, but I tend to purchase some of the Genesis diesel models also since I take pictures of the prototype fairly often. Recently, I received the UP 1982 and 1983 Heritage units with the upgraded low base speakers for the sound and the smt led's. The lights are really bright and solve the problem with the Athearn light bulbs burning out. I had one bulb burn out while hte F7 was being tested on a test track at home. Larry

Larry I'd like to go LED's in the future, maybe once I loose a bulb. I just wish there were lenses in the headlight housings, instead of a bulb in hole. But I haven't had much problem with bulbs going out(im doomed now). I have a SD70 spartan cab in NS paint with its original bulbs. Here is my SD70 on my friend's layout, where I just did manage to stop for a banner test while switching the yard! Attachments:

Did you have any problems with the trucks not resting level of the track? I purchased some of the original SD70M's for UP and Santa Fe and several of those had trucks that were warped and would not track well at all. If the bulbs last beyond the first few minutes and maybe a few hours, you are probably safe. I only the one during a few minutes of testing and would hope that was just a defective bulb. Did Athearn install the ditch lights on both ends of the unit? Larry

Did Athearn install the ditch lights on both ends of the unit? Larry The SD70M-2 does have long hood ditch lights, the SD70 does not, but may have had them in the past. It looks like there may have been ditch lights on the back of the SD70, as there are two small holes, but I bought this unit in late 2008, so it may have had them before and they were removed by the previous owner. Same goes for the wheel problems. I haven't had any, but it may have been an issue for the previous owner. If they release new numbers in the right font style, or do SD70ACe's, I'll certainly purchase more Athearn SD70-series units, and I would recommend them to anyone.

I think the SD70 did have the rear ditch lights at one time. You can email Athearn about the font style and problems with the previous units. They normally answer my email and I believe it has helped at times. You should also send pictures of the prototype to fact check the information. Larry

This is a close up of the ditch light lens which Steve Ulrich uses on the smt led modifications. The lights are extra bright since the led is inside the ditch lights behind the lens. I got the unit finished since the small smt led's are really hard to work and install. I need to do some touch up on the uprights. Larry

The California colors are the reason the SP picked the colors for the Daylight locomotives. I used one of my Sunset pictures at Pacific Grove to illustrate the colors compared to the GS4. Larry

Craigz,
Almost all my pics are hosted on Photobucket.
It can be a pain to upload from my computer or disk, then post it here, if I'm in a hurry, but otherwise, it works just fine for me.

If you upload it directly to the forum, then you'll get a thumbnail and link. If you post your photos on third party site, and then link it to this site, it will show up full size. I have a Photobucket account, but there are many others that you can choose from.
