?? Mike, isnt that tank too big for a Mini-Sub ? am thinking of the Japanese 1 and 2 Man types, they weren't much larger than Torpedoes. could that be some sort of Refinery Vessel ? just wondering ? good Luck with the Group Andy !! Spikre

Spikre, I think the Japanese have been out of production with those models for some time... I suspect you're right, some sort of industrial plumbing, but what's up with the tarppage, which seems unnecessary? The front and rear tapers differ enough, plus what looks like the base of a conning tower/sail, that it suggested "submarine" to me. And there are some spooky folks in Navy Spec Warfare in San Diego who might play with such toys, which could account for the tarp? Just speculating...

Mike, one never knows when one of those Subs may wash up somewhere. and its also possible they may find more soldiers that havnt surrendered yet,and are passing the torch to their children. the Tarp may be tp keep rust to a minimum ? or to keep sand and grits out of the vessel ? if it was Super Secret it would only move at nite, and be hidden by day. so maybe its just Secret ? Looks like the gantry crane might have been used to load that what ever kind of load that is. Those flat cars are sitting on the spur that's used for storage to the left of the crane.

LAJ is a excellent terminal/switching road to model if one has a large area for a ISL since IMHO a small ISL would not do it justice. I would favor the zebra stripe Alcos.
