Today while running some engines at the club (NCE DCC system), I ran into something I hadn't encountered before. I was running a P2K GP30 with a Digitrax DH163L0 installed and an Atlas SD35 with the old dual mode decoder. When running the engines side by side with seperate throttles (to see if they ran even remotely close to the same speed before I started messing with speed tables), they both ran almost perfectly in-sync at every speed step. Good deal! I thought. I consisted the two in an advanced consist, with the GP30 as the lead unit. The consist is set up, increase the speed steps and "woah! The GP30's not moving! What the heck, the headlight's still on, so it's getting power." After some monkeying and really cranking up the throttle, the GP30 finally started to creep around speed step 30. Of course, the SD35 was rolling along pretty good at this point. I unconsisted them, and low-and-behold the GP30 runs normal again. Consist them both again, slooooowwww. What would cause this? Is there a CV I need to change?

Was there BEMF in the GP30 and was it on? Sometimes that can cause strange behavior in consists.

I ran into this. I have to look it jp, but for advanced consisting to work on a Digitrax decoder, I think cv57 has to be set to 102.

Okay, I pulled up my notes, and to enable BEMF to work like it should with advanced consisting, cv57=102 is what needs to be set.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

That seemed to be the issue. Every Digitrax decoder equipped engine I had issues with started acting normally once I changed that CV. Thanks!
