It's SPF! One of the Silverton Union RR's two C-19s passes under the tramway bridge at Chattanooga. It was among the beneficiaries of this week's campaign to add or extend platforms at the various stations. Mom hates dragging her skirt in the mud when taking the train! Sheridan even got a new passenger shelter, patterned after the one at Tacoma along the Rio Grande's Silverton Branch. I decided this was a good place to build a station perched on a rock. Although there's not much to it, it is photogenic. For more of the completed structure, see the 5P thread here: 5 PerspectivesThe campaign to impress Mom included some long needed landscaping and ballast work around the SURR enginehouse in Silverton.

I finally completed some cars this past week. Scotty are you going to save the factory paint or completely redo it? Nice start with all the details. This is the first of three cars I will be doing in this paint scheme. Car is an ex-Erie 1944 AAR design from Front Range Products, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Champ Decals. Car is a IMRC 60' PS SD (Fisher Body) Car, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Floquil Platinum Mist and lettered with Oddballs Decals, car assigned to the Grand Trunk for Auto Parts service. Car is Walthers 60' PS DD Boxcar (Fisher Body Car), Painted with Scalecoat II Zito Yellow and Black and Floquil Platinum Mist, then lettered with Oddballs Decals. These Pullman Standard 60' Boxcars were called Fisher Body cars as they mostly carried Auto Parts for GM. GM called for Single Door cars for certain car parts and Double Door cars for other car parts. These cars were used for the heavier parts than the 86' cars such as engines, axles, bumpers, transmissions, glass etc. Thanks for looking! Rick J.

Beautiful work today guys! I have some shots of a pair of Red Caboose Reefers decorated for A.R.T. Out of the box the color is a very '60s orange/red that is almost like an overripe Velveeta in model form, a bit of a challenge to tone it down and become more convincing. Pardon the silliness! Here's one right out of the box After a trip of several thousand miles a step had come loose, first, I had a screaming hissy fit and cried like a little girl - Then I tried this miracle modeling product called "Glue" and viola! Fixed. First thing to do is shoot some dullcote to get rid of the glossy lettering - it won't take chalks. Here we have some orange road dust around the ribs and seams applied with an Angle Comb brush, you have to be a bit visionary here as the model doesn't have all the color on it yet.... Now with some medium brown brushed in. Out in the sun, a little tamer now.

it's been a while since I've posted in Sunday photo fun, so here's a small project I'm working on.... CNW nondynamic SD45 903. This was one of the last 3 nondynamic equipped SD45's on the roster at the time of the UP merger (950 and 954 being the others). The base model is a stripped Kato SD45, the nondynamic section is built out of modified and lengthened SD40-2 nondynamic sections. I don't have nearly as much time to build stuff anymore, so still to do besides painting (obviously) is to install Cannon fans, Tichy wire grabs, a DA bell, DA cut bars, Details West spare knuckles, sinclair antenna, vent, horn, precision scale beacon and a few other odds and ends, then off to blasting and painting... Enjoy! Kelley. www.dufordmodelworks.com

So here's the two baggage cars. Wow, fantastic weathering on those baggage cars! You really captured the look of the prototype, the way the washers miss the ends of the cars. The door conversion on the 73' car looks great too, especially the wear on the doors - did you use the TSP kit for that car? Thanks for sharing - I hope to catch up with my Amtrak modeling one of these days! Dave

What did you use for the nondynamic sections on the N SD45's out of curiosity? As for 'someday projects' I'm sure we all have lots of those Enjoy! Kelley. www.dufordmodelworks.com

I used sheet styrene to make the hatch and the fronts of the dynamic brakes to finish off the radiator section like you did for your HO version.
