I was thinking about how to attached loads to freight cars such as containers on pedistals or even lumber to flat cars etc. Is there such a thing as a PostIt note type adhesive you can apply that will let you paint a bit on and then give it a sticky surface? My google search showed a glue stick and not sure if that would work or is there something that you could perhaps apply/paint on a bit more thick? Anyone try something like this?

Aleen's Tack-It is likely the easiest to find. Craft stores. There are other brands.

Aleene's is good stuff. I think Woodland Scenics makes a very similar product to use to "plant" figures, but it's considerably pricier than Aleene's on a per unit basis.
I think that Woodland Scenics can be duplicated by just letting some Aleene's sit out in a small jar so that it loses some moisture, then recap and it'll be thicker like the WS stuff is.
