I understand that several manufacturers attended BAPM 2012 in Richmond, California, last week end. Did any of this forum members go to the show ? Anything special to report ? Ciao. Raffaele

I was there. Great fun, and the Polish dogs were delicious.
Yes, there were several manufacturers and/or their reps there. But, remember, manufacturers come in many sizes. Largest was Exactrail. Blaine brought some items--nothing we don't know about already. The samples of the centerbeam car were there. They look exactly like the photos on the Exactrail site; so that wasn't too revelatory.
I was showing some of my own work, so I was "yakkin' with the guys" more than exploring for new items. I do believe there were some new N scale signals, though. If there had been anything jawdropping, like a new C430, I'm sure I would have noticed the large crowd, however.
This is a great event--always fun and educational (how often do those words go together?). I'm already looking forward to next year.

Raffaele - Here are some photo albums below from the event (I didn't attend, but I always enjoy the photos that Harry and others post afterwards). Harry W.: www.pbase.com/tracktime/bapm2012&page=allCyrus G.: www.pbase.com/cg_shops/bapm_2012&page=all Rob S.: www.pbase.com/espeef5/bapm_meet_2012More photos to be posted at: www.bayareaprototypemodelers.net As I understand it, ExactRail displayed the samples of their centerbeam flat car that are displayed on their website, Tangent Scale Models showed a couple new paint schemes for their PS 4740 covered hopper, and Plano Model Products displayed some etched brass ladders, grills, and other parts for the SD7/9 and SD24, as wel as SP snow-fighting equipment. A new small company called BeNscale Models displayed a line of N scale signals: www.pbase.com/espeef5/image/144279954Another new company called Denver, Boulder & Western Railway showed lasercut wood decks for Atlas 42' coil car and dunnage for flatcar pipe loads. I think this is the same guy who's been showing photos of these products on Trainorders with his pipe flats, but he's never mentioned that he's starting a new company - I was under the impression he was making them for himself and selling extras. Ah, yes, the new ladders for the SD's. Harry had some installed. REALLY REALLY nice--a vast improvement over the stock P2K ones. I do believe I'll order some quite soon for my GN SD's.
