My PCM unit with Loksound 3.5 wants to have it's engine RPM advancement adjusted...as it won't catch notch 3 until the unit is traveling at 13 on the NCE dial. OK for a passenger unit, but CofG 201 will never see a passenger consist! Can anyone help me with the adjustment CV and ranges so I can get the old girl behaving better than she is ? Thanks.

I'm assuming you are referring to the sound notching vs the speed steps ? This can be adjusted, but not through the normal use of CV adjustment. You will need to use the Lokprogrammer to adjust the notching points within the actual flow chart of the decoder.
I've been pestering ESU for years to change this so it could be adjusted using a simple CV change like Soundtraxx, but no changes to date.

Before I buy an expensive piece of ESU hardware for just one chooch, we'll dump the thing for another Soundtraxx Tsunami..like the excellent unit in the Walthers Proto unit !

Have you tried playing with the speed table ? This can be helpful in getting the engine sound to react differently in relation to the throttle setting. Even just lower the max voltage to the approximate range you actually run you engine at for top speed can change how it reacts.
All comes down to how much you want to play with it. IF you like the Loksound decoder and are planning on yanking the 3.5 anyway, you might consider replacing it with a Loksound Select decoder. They are programmed in a much lower range than the original 3.5 versions were.

Not sure how the 3.5 reacts to lowering cv6/5 but I have my esu rs3's in notch 8 before speed step 25...a lot of playing around but fun to see a loco notching like a semi taking off from a semi..
Too bad there isn't a cv where you control where you want it to notch vs speed step but for what esu has done I get it pretty close.
