I usually link photos from an outside source. I'll try uploading something now, and see what happens... Okay, just tried it, and got the same error message you did. So, it's not just you, it seems to be the forum.

My guess is the forum is paying for a only a specific amount of storage from their web hosting provider. I know a lot of folks use one of the photo hosting sites, but some of us, like myself, who don't typically post a lot of photos, having the ability to post on the forum site was handy.
It will be interesting to see what impact this might have on the "Sunday Photos" topic. Bob

Hello everyone, our free "200MB" worth of attachment file storage has been reached. I have purchased 500MB worth of storage space so that members can continue attaching files directly to the forum.

I can't upload photos today??? Lee The forum has probably reached the limit of their purchased storage again. It would probably be a good if=dea to u=try using one of the free photo hosting sites, and link to the photo from there. I use Photobucket, and have a 4Gb (the basic) account. Even with hunf=dreds of photos, I am still only at 4% of my limit.

People really should be storing their photos on sites like photobucket, rather than making the admins pay for more and more storage. That's a good way to kill this forum if it goes unchecked.
Linking photos is extremely easy. When you upload a photo on to photobucket, when looking at the photo details there is a web address called "direct link". Copy that address into the forum, and that's it. Now your photo is hosted on the web by photobucket, not the forum.

I use my free Dropbox account.

If I can do it, all y'all can do it:

Chris, What does direct linking mean? A link to molocotrains? Thanks for help, Nick Nick, Have you ever tried direct linking to the photos on your website? That would save storage space on the forums too. Direct linking is when you post an image already hosted somewhere on web. On a forum like this, people often use a site like Flickr or Photobucket (I have also used my pbase site as well) to store the photo online. To apply it to the forum, that previously stored photo has a web address that links directly to the photo. The forum has an option when posting to use a "photo link". The photo then will appear in the post, but the photo is hosted on the web by the original site, rather than the forum itself. Here is an example of a direct link address: www.pbase.com/cmbellows/image/148179731/medium.jpgSince the forum isn't hosting the photo on the web, the forum won't get hit for the storage of the photo. Frankly it should be forum policy (if it's not already) to require photos to be direct linked rather than hosted by the forum. That said, I see no reason a manufacturer can't post photos that are hosted on their own sites. Without knowing the software behind your website Nick, I can't directly explain the steps to find the direct link, but I'd expect it to be somewhere either on page for the photo itself or the page the photo appears. Hope this helps

Thanks Chris,
I already have a link to the moloco website, so I get that.
It still doesn't help me to upload an image on the forum, though. I prefer this because the images will more likely inspire the reader to actual go to the website.
So, I don't understand with images of around 100K or 200K do not upload on this forum. Do you have any suggestions?
Nick

Nick, how do you typically access the forum? Computer or smartphone? I ask in an attempt to walk you through this.
When using the "image link" method I've been trying to describe, to the best of my knowledge, image size is irrelevant. Since the forum is not hosting the file, the forum programming does not care. If I'm wrong on this, please correct me.

Do you have any suggestions? Nick Nick, I found a random photo on your website, and downloaded it to my computer. I then went to my Photobucket account, and uploaded the photo from my computer to Photobucket. I then copied the ".img" link to that photo, and will be pasting the link here as an image file. Let me know if you don't want this photo published, and I'll take it back down:

Hi Nick,
I think Terry has pretty much covered the steps to link to a photo stored "off-forum" but, in case it's not apparent, you need to do this from the Create Post screen (click Reply in the blue bar at the top or bottom of the thread). You can't insert images using the Quick Reply box, AFAIK.
BTW, love your cars and parts!

Hi again Nick, I just picked this photo from your online store. Instead of copying it to Photobucket as Terry did, I used it's address in the store to save a step. As Terry said, let me know if you want this example taken down. Cheers, David

Donnell I don't know about the rest but the way the internet works seems to be a mystery. Thanks for clearing this up. I know this is supposed to be the information highway but I find it as a black hole where you get no information or more info than you need and none of it consistent with each other so it is like getting no info.
