Intermountain has posted some test shots of its new bi-level cars, sans exterior panels. www.intermountain-railway.com/autorackdetails.htmLooks like they have gone with a Walthers style wide swing coupler pocket, but otherwise they look real nice so far. Can't wait to seem them in finished form, which Intermountain still lists as August.

I'm very excited about these, and the initial test shots look great. Having watched lots of prototype autoracks roll by, I really want mine to have see-through side panels, but I just haven't had the time or energy to convert my Walthers autoracks with Plano panels yet (I have about 5 sets stashed away but haven't gotten around to them yet). These are definitely expensive, but they're worth it to me. I'll just have to spread out my purchases a lot more on these.
I'm hoping they'll offer tri-level racks in the future, but hopefully they'll pick a different prototype from the Walthers model (with the side sill cutouts over the trucks). Then I can still modify a few Walthers tri-levels and have some variety in the fleet.

This car looks like it will be fantastic. Like Dave, I am waiting for the five I have on order to arrive. With the price, most of us probably are not going to buy large fleets. But I would like a few to improve my fleet of Auto racks. I am in the process of upgrading one of Walthers Bi's with the Plano panels. This will make it a lot easier to have a see through racks.
I am hearing from my dealer that the delivery will be pushed out into the fall. Which is fine, it will allow some time to stash more money away to buy a few more.

If these were late 70's to early 80's, I'd be all over it, but it looks like they will be a more detailed version of the style or at least era that the Walthers racks are - late 80's thru the 90's etc.

I had actually just been wondering about the status of those lately. They look pretty nice, although it's going to be the side panels that will determine if they're worth the premium over the Walthers racks. Now if only I had the space needed to run autorack trains.

These might end up costing me money!
I hope they get the metal sides right and they attach them well.
