They are, or were, B. C. Hydro Railway cars: BCH 700-749 built 7-1978

They look pretty neat. I've never seen them with both plug and sliding doors before.

They are Evans-USRE "side sliders".

looks like Evans-USRE made the cars just different enuff to not have Thrall sue them over Patent or Copyrite issues. there are still some running ? havnt seen a Thrall Door car in years, but don't get too many trains a day thru here, maybe 4 a day on the R&D Line. the daily trains now seem Covered Hopper heavy, with some Box and Tank cars for a bit of variety. I think perhaps the Evans design was an improvement over the Thrall--sliders being simpler than plugs.
I also think that the various all door cars are probably gone. I expect they were pretty delicate.

I think it would be kinda fun if Exactrail did the Evans cars.
And, for something completely different, the folks on the GN Yahoo group were talking about HO Iron Range ore cars. Ya know, the current models are all really old and clunky. It would be pretty cool to have some Exactraily Tangential versions of the classic iron ore cars. While I'd probably only get a couple, as the only reason I can see for them showing up along the Columbia River is as some kind of MOW operation, there'd be a fair bunch of folks who'd just HAVE TO HAVE 50 to 100. I run 48 car Bethgon trains. Just imagine if you ran a string of the little cars with the same train length. D'ya think you could make 100 cars? Darn close, I'll wager.

I have some of the Walthers cars. I am thinking of selling them off though as they are from an earlier era.

The Illinois Railway Museum has two Thrall all door boxcars in the collection.

Thanks for the help guys. I did not realize these were a different type of All Door, I thought they were modified versions. I wonder how convincing it would be to convert a Walthers car into one of them. Still a few All Doors kicking around, I have seen one not long ago.

Ed New high quality MN/WI/MI type ore cars would probably sell well. I've never seen any in operation and they are out of my region, but they do have the cute factor going for them.

...they do have the cute factor going for them. I love how the wheels stick out from the ends--sort of a bigfoot look. And yet they're 70 ton cars: Ed
