Its a balmy 1 degree above zero right now here in Hooterville....I mean Clintonville, Wisconsin U.S.A.
According to my thermometer in the dungeon the temperature with the gas fire place supposedly making heat is 59 degrees.
My nose is officially cold and wet.......That means I'm a healthy puppy.
IT IS COLD!!!!

If I have some basement activity planned here during a cold snap (those ran from November to April where I used to live in Idaho), I'll turn on one of those oil-filled electric radiators about a half hour before. They're fairly cheap to run and take the chill off a room.

Throw some old issues of MR on the fire. Or better yet, find the longest rant-filled thread on here, print it out, and use that - all the hot air is bound to make it feel like a sauna !

I use a small heater in my "man cave" (spare bedroom) that contains all my stuff like layout, computer,my small work desk and small gaming table that holds my PS2,PS3 and 24" flat screen TV..The smart folks that built this house didn't add a vent for heat but, added a A/C vent..

In SoCal, last night was the coldest night of 2014. This was the coldest Rose PArade since 1952. It was 27 degrees this morning in Valencia when I got the paper. About half my plants in my yard look dead from the frost. I have several Robelini palms which are hardy to 26 degrees. If they did not make it, it will be an expensive spring.
My trains are upstairs inside the house, so I don't have to freeze when I work on them. Howver, my son's are home for the holidays and since my workshop is one of their former bedrooms, I have no place to work.
Will be going on a cruise to Antarctica later this month, so I guess this cold snap is just preparing me for what's coming.

Yesterday when I posted the thread it was 34 in Las Vegas with a wind chill of 22! Phoenix had snow according to the radar just a little north of it. Phoenix was 48 with a wind chill of 44. Holy frozen brass monkey's Batman!
