OK... TCS decoders, Digtrax system. When programming the decoder if you set the long address to the cab number of the loco, but also specify that the loco is also part of a consist, and set a consist address, should you be able to address the loco by it's long (cab) address? What I have found is that you can not address the loco by its long (cab) address as long as it also has a consist address configured.
I'm assuming I'm missing something? Thanks. Bob

That's correct Bob. Unless the engine is actually IN a consist, the consist address should not be used (CV19 = 0). The consist address takes priority over the engine address so the engine WILL operate in the consist. Saying that, you CAN bring up the engine's address while in a consist to access things like lighting functions. There are different methods of consisting based on the system and the decoder. Hopefully this will help explain .... sites.google.com/site/markgurries/home/technical-discussions/consisting-information/nmra-dcc-consistingMark.

Yes, I am consisting via the decoder, so all I really needed was to access the light functions, so that's good to know. Some years ago I had done some consisting via the command station. I kind of forgot why I did it that way. Bob
