Are these engines out as in for sale in stores? I have not seen any. They were due out back in the winter. If anyone has one what say you about it? I am curious how they stack up to Athearn's and Kato's versions. Thanks

When announced, they were supposed to be in the stores in January 2012. I asked the same question on this forum a few weeks ago and nobody seems to know anything about them. On the Walthers website their delivery date is "unknown". Very strange. Ciao. Raffaele

If anyone has one what say you about it? I am curious how they stack up to Athearn's and Kato's versions. I saw them at Rosemont back in October. Test shots. MTH seems to be trying hard to pay attention to what HO modelers really want, but TBQH I have enough Katos to build pretty much every GP35 I will ever need, so the MTH doesn't really interest me. The GP35 was one of Kato's best. It's kitbashable to any phase I variant... phase II will be a bit harder, but I don't really need one. I'd like to have a Southern version and that may be the one Southern unit I have to build and paint myself. I can model any N&W unit - including the Wabash, P&WV, and lone NKP units - from the Kato. The hardest one to do is the phase 1a1 with the short inertial grill - nobody makes that part. I will probably end up modifying the Cannon part. Andy

Andy, I've seen a picture of N&W 1303 in 1973 with a low nose. I was under the impression that all the 69 original N&W GP35s had high noses and the others, acquired through mergers, had low noses. Was 1303 rebuilt with a low nose or, maybe, ordered by Wabash or NKP before the merger, and delivered to N&W ? Ciao. Raffaele
