Southern Ry dual fuel gages

On these i used styrene and the fuel gages that come in the Athearn RTR locomotives and some from the Detail Associates
fuel tank detail set all i done was remove the oval fuel gages from their trees/gates applied a small amount of testors glue after they dry i will file all the square corners round and Viola dual
fuel gages Southern style!!beats 4.00 bucks and S&H

Any idea why Southern had/used, dual fuel tank gauges?

That's a new one for me.
