Sirs, Is it permissible to ask in these pages if anyone has a wiring diagram for an 0 scale Samhongsa Brass 4-8-4 loco and tender especially the connection from loco to tender. Mine had the 'plug' wrenched off it's wires and not sure if the loco wheels are say + and the tender - or if the tender is + and - from each truck . Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can get my engine back running

James, is it two rail or three rail?
Two rail, you should be able to see the insulated part of the wheels on the tender, and the engine should be the opposite.

Yes Terry but the wire from the engine to the tender seems to have two functions ...1 for the back up light and 2 for the power to the motor but the tender body is soldered to the chassis and one cannot see where what wire goes where unless there is a diode inside the tender that only illuminates the back up light when the engine is in reverse.

LEDs will only illuminate when the correct polarity is applied. It would be normaly off in the forward direction, and on in reverse, with no other real lighting wiring.

Thanks Terry It has fallen into place now just have to re-assemble the wheelsets the correct way round ad then find a cover for the tender back light and a cover for the loco headlight. The originals seem to have gone 'walkies' traction power is working 'pawfekt'.............Soon be able to use the J1 on steam heat duties on the tar tank wagons !................................James.
