ALTERNATING DITCH LIGHTS IN KATO HO LOCOMOTIVES

I have a Kato P42 and SD 80 MAC with factory-installed sound but the ditch lights do not alternate when the horn is played.

How difficult is it to change the ditch lights to alternating and is it worth the effort?

I used to install all of my sound decoders, lighting and speakers but just don't have the time anymore for this part of the hobby.

I'm much better suited for layout design, benchwork, track laying, scenery and running trains.

Some of the new Kato SD40-2 models have alternating ditchlights. There is a special plugin for it, along with having to cut the common light tube from the headlight area on your 80Mac and F40.
