Walther's new structure kit the Ashmore Hotel is out. I have one and will get at least one more, as they are very nice. Somewhat similar to the Bachmann City Structures kit, it will make a very nice hotel in a big city scene. There is only one thing so far that is not perfect with the kit; the decorative molding at the top is cast on. However the kit come in three colors, off white for the main walls, brown for all of the window frames and doors, and grey for the roof and other trim. Plus clear window "glass". Walther's has pre thought of kit bashers and even shows how to do so in the instructions. There are cut lines built in. The molding is very crisp, with no flash and only a few sprue parts to cut off. Will I spray paint my walls but the rest I will leave alone. The instructions show three eras and also have three eras of interior pictures included to put inside the kit. If you have a big city, you need one of these! Or two or three if you are a kit bashers. I give Walther's a big A for this kit so far. I am looking forward to the ATSF Tower coming sometime. The PRR brick tower is out for those who want one.

That's a good-looking hotel. I'm actually surprised it's not more expensive for a large structure like this one.

It is an outstanding model, however in building it, when you attach the windows the walls tend to warp. I suggest that you not follow the assembly sequence set forth in the instructions and attach the four basic walls before attaching the windows.

The ATSF Tower is out. Also, the hotel can easily be kitbashed into a larger or background structure.

hmmm. I have not yet seen that ATSF tower. Thanks for the scout tip.
How did you attach the windows? As in what glue did you use? Thanks

I used Ambroid Pro weld liquid cement. You have to attach both the frames and the clear plastic windows. Walthers did a nice job of creating a post in the walls and holes in the frames and windows. I ordered both the hotel and the ATSF tower directly from Walthers and they came in the same package. The hotel is honestly one of the best models Walthers has done. I sued a Rustoleum metallic paint to simulate the granite on the first floor. This model is a ton of fun to build!
