I haven't started this in awhile, West Coast time and all that. Enjoy your Easter Holiday! Here's some Genesis F's outside on a sunny day I also managed to weather my MoPac hopper. It's an Atlas Cylindrical using Plano parts designed for both the AHM Flexi Flo and the stock Atlas model, I really like Genesis 100 ton trucks so they were subbed in place of the stock Atlas. I chose to use the car # from Todd Templeman's phote that I used as a reference, it was originally a Texas and Pacific car, it would be placed around 1975 with the large buzzsaw herald, ACI plate and no COTS info.

TBird, nice work on that Covered Hopper, I just saw a set of decals for that car on E-Bay and was sorely tempted, but have a lot of other work to get done. I finished my U25B this week! This is a Stewart U25B with a Kato Drive. Installed the PRR Trainphone Antenna System, a Cab Signal Box, Speed Recorder, Anti-Slip Modulators, Drop Steps and Coupler cut levers. Painted the engine with Scalecoat II Brunswick Green and the frame, fuel tank and trucks with Black. Lettered the engine with Microscale PRR decals. It was numbered with it's original number as I wanted a model with the Trainphone Antennas. Thanks for Looking, Rick J.

Lets see if this works. At the 2013 St Louis RPM Meet Mike Lozensky brought a bunch of scratch/kitbashed Freight Cars. One that caught my eye was the McCloud River Thrall All Door car that he had kitbashed out of the Walthers SECO car. The McCloud owned both SECO and Thrall versions of the All Door cars that they got from US Plywood in the mid 70's. With the Incentive Per Diem movement they converted the all door cars into Double Door XM Box Cars, by removing the outer sets of doors and replacing them with what appears as "normal" Outside Post construction. The Thrall cars have a Diagonal Panel Roof while the SECO cars have the arched barn style roof. All of these were scrapped except for one at the Portola Railway Museum. The Original cars were essentially Bulkhead Fishbelly Flats with a roof and all the doors that offered no structural strength. The end bulkheads are four 24 inch "I" Beams stood on end. I thought I'd take a different approach to building one of there. My friend Brian Rutherford had visited the MCCloud operation and had taken pictures and measurments of the removed doors and the torched off car bodies that were being used as storage sheds. With Brians measurements I was able to draw the car in AutoCad and break it down into layers that I could cut with the laser. The car is entirely scratch built from styrene except the Branchline roof that had lengthen by one panel. This is NOT a car that I will offer in the Cannon Freight Car line, just too many parts that have to be cut and the instructions would be impossible to write and follow. The other big challenge is decals. There is a Microscale set for doing FMC Double door cars, but the Logo and lettering are way too big. Mike had made some decals for those, that I was able to get from him. Still needs some light weathering. www.flickr.com/photos/ckape/16830011270/in/set-72157651265824767www.flickr.com/photos/ckape/16829774308/in/set-72157651265824767Well the link was not what I was hoping for. Nice work fellows. Love that McCloud car, Dave. Prepping for an ops session next Saturday, so doing a lot of maintenance and paperwork -- UGH. Did finish up my rock bins for now, by cutting a notch to angle the track so it's more parallel to the bins and building a support tower for the conveyor to the top . Down in Purgatory, the Purgatory Brewing Co-op -- makers of tasty Colorado Blackstripe pilsner -- is under construction. Need to figure out something for the brewing kettles to go inside those big front windows. If nothing else, may turn something using my hand drill as a lathe.

Sweet Rio Grande photo's! Very sweet. I missed out on most the Athearn Genesis F7 phase II's. They seem to be pretty rare now a days - I do hope to scare up a pair some day!

I hope it's not to late to add a picture. While my layout is under construction, and the rolling stock lacks the details that so many of you have, I still enjoy my hobby. Lastly I have to run what I have, which isn't always time span correct. rr32 by desertguy56, on Flickr I'm always amazed by folks who make scenery so easy. It gives me hope.

Happy Easter guys. I've been slowing plugging away with the weathering. Figured I'd mock it up for some pics. Still much weathering to do, but I'm liking the results so far.

Pretty stunning all around, but I was particularly struck by the stairs. I can hear people clattering up and down them I think

dsertdog56, I see you're a MoPar man. In my youth, I was a fanatic too. My last car was a 69 440 6 Pack Super Bee. It was R-4 red and weight in at 38,000 lbs. A Dana Spicer rear with 4:10 gears. I installed Hooker fender well headers, a blueprinted Lanatti cam, and CC the heads after a .030 milling which was the legal amount. I ran Firestone 7" slicks and large dia skinny front tires. It was a automatic with a manual shift valve body with a reverse shift pattern. Of course, the outstanding feature was the lift off fiberglass hood. It turned in the low 12s at 115 mph. I wish I'd kept it as it would be worth a fortune. BTW, it cost $3,800, that came out to $1.00 a lb. Regards, Bobby Thanks...I guess you gleaned that by googling my name? Yes I'm still a Mopar fanatic. I've had my fun toys in the past but how I survived manual drum brakes and bias ply tires I'll never know. We sure love our '06 Charger R/T. I hope to add some 50's Mopars to my layout.

How long does static grass hold up static wise after application ?

How long does static grass hold up static wise after application ? Technically the static goes away as soon as the applicator is removed, but since you're setting the grass into wet glue, it should stand up forever.

Static grass stays up permanently.................i have even vacuumed it with a mini computer vac attachment when cleaning layout. There are of course qualities of grass interms of color and sheen.I use Siflor. The applicator is an in expensive one a guy makes and sells on E bay, about 30 dollars.I was not prepared to 200.00 or there abouts for the Noch.Mine is made from a battery operated fly swot. The tutorial to make one like mine is on utube. I paint the area before with flat earth tone brown, when dry apply Modge Podge to area then stick the nail in the wet glue and sift. When dry vac up excess.I made a coffee can with a filter inside that fits to vac to collect waste so i can reuse.I assume the static charge from a pricey one probably better than mine, but for my use and amount of use 30.00 fine.Useing a blend of different height grasses and colors works great. The dry brushing of tips of grass really high lights the grass and gives it a real look. For a lid for the hopper so the grass stays confined in the sift i found a plastic container wear lid that fit it. I use 2/4/6 mm grass the 6 less. I like spring and summer color mixes from Siflor its from scenic express. Hope that helps .Steve

Had some trouble getting these pics from phone to photobucket, otherwise would have posted yeasterday, but I gave up and just emailed them to myself. I edited them down, and pasted together, but here are 3 WKW hicubes I weathered up after adding some details. DT&I handled lots and lots of these, so I have about 40 of these cars.
