I recently purchased a locomotive with a TCS decoder installed. I do not have a DCC system. What do I need to do to get it to run on straight DC? I tried it on dc and nothing. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like the previous user has the DC Enable turned off in CV29. You're going to have to find someone with a DCC system to program it for you. The best approach would be to just reset it to the factory defaults (who knows what else might be changed). Write a value of 8 into CV8 and then power cycle the engine to reset everything back to factory specs. It will then run on DC again.

If its a decoder thats plugged into a socket you can simply remove it and replace it with a dummy plug, maybe one of you friends that uses DCC can give you one that they removed from one of there loco's. I know Digitrax makes replacement dummy plugs, not sure about TCS if none of your friends can help you out. The other suggestion is excellent and should work well but should the decoder ever fail you'll be out of business.
