With Overland canceling theirs. MTH is probably the best late ES44AC in town. Don't say IM. My feelings on theirs is well grounded. Al should cut one of those in half.

BLI is also bringing out the ES44AC. We will have a lot of different units to review when they are all available. The BLI will have smoke!!!! How does that relate to the newest diesels that should not smoke? For some reason, they seem to believe that we want smoke in both steam and diesels. The unit has the new sound which is Rolling Thunder!! I will skip on that extra sound, but it might actually produce the low frequency sounds of a diesel. Larry

I'd buy the MTH's without sound and put either Tsunami's or Loksound in them

It can be turned off, but a customer would be paying for a feature that is unwanted and it does cost money. Larry

Last mth I had "smoked" too...a DCC ready sd70ace. Two motor shorts that required two customer paid (ie me) warranty returns. It took them 8 weeks each time to repair. And ordering parts, what a joke. If IM is junk, MTH is even junkier. Just my opinion.

The trucks are wrong on the Ferrosur units. Should have the GE "STEERABLES" I hate when manufactures do this and try to cut corners.

bigblow69, The trucks are correct for the Ferrosur unit it has steerable trucks on the unit on MTH facebook page. Really. I will have to check that out. The pictures at MB Klein must be standard catalog pictures. I got my CP today. nice model Red is more correct that Athearn or Intermountain. Lots of weight. Detail is between Kato and Athearn. All around a solid model. Now for the torture test.

I stand corrected. Looks like a better truck than the Intermountain, not as nice as the Athearn.

I'd like to see some detail pics of them..... There are dozens of reviews the GE Demo version online. You tube has many videos. The GEVOs by MTH are very nice engines. If you get ones with the MTH couplers you can swap them easily with the included scale versions.

Looks like MTH made the HO ES44AC's shell a little easier to remove than they SD70ACe. You do not have to remove the trucks' cover plate and the wheel sets; you do have to remove several handrail stanchions and disengage 4 plastic clips. You don't have to remove the couplers. To add sound, it's much like a newer Kato where you pry apart the fuel tank. So these are steps in the right direction... See page 6 of this PDF. mthtrains.com/sites/default/files/download/instruction/80dl15951i.pdf

Yeah to install a 9pin decoder you have to install it under the radiator with a harness. A snap in 8pin will not work. The shell wont fit because where the plug is.
