Looks like many are enjoying the long holiday weekend, but I'm sure that SPF must go on as scheduled Crews were busy at the new turntable in Tefft, getting it ready for when the turnout for the lead arrives. The TT bridge was decked and grading for the 2-stall enginehouse and a couple of ramps, one end-loading and the other side-loading, for the new location of the 9 Lives Cat House (umm, they repair dozers) is underway. The Unimog is sitting in the caboose pocket. The strategic location at the junction with the Cascade Branch puts 9 Lives within easy reach of its many customers including the RRs serving the area. Here are views of the two ramps. Getting equipment on and off several of the fingers tracks requires either a car-mover (yep the old-fashioned lever kind) or locos short enough to fit on the 65' bridge with the car. This should do the trick, and can pop-over to Purgatory where a similar situation exists, as well as providing it with a strategic base to get out on the main and slow down things in the middle of an ops session. Hope y'all have a great long weekend!

Scotty, They are beautiful and look so, so...real! Thanks for the comments. I tend to have long run-ups as I plan and prepare. Construction here started several weeks ago when I "dug" the pit, then came building the bridge, then flooring and the ring rails, then the pit walls, then the basic Sculptamold backfill and finish grading -- and we arrive where in about 8 hours over two evenings it all came together. Still needs some detailing after another wash or two to keep toning things down. I'm thinking I have enough pics to do a build thread, we'll see. A nice working turntable for about $20 is a nice option to have, although not as big a requirement for many here who model modern stuff as it is for us steamy old-timers. BTW, if you are ever in the area (central Illinois) please feel free to stop for a visit. And if anyone just wants to browse layout pics from roughly the last three years, here's a link to my pic feed (95% trains, 3% cats, and the rest SFW*, BTW.) imageshack.com/user/DRGW476* There is one exception I forgot. A group of pics from inside Maguire's, a "dance club" in Red Mountain, does have some rather racy classic art prints that miners keep paying the cover charge to sip beer over. In 1:87 I doubt there's much to actually see but one's imagination...well, you're responsible for that. Pretty good taste for something in [modestly] bad taste. You've been warned!

mrsocal, Your tank cars turned out great...and a year+ for three cars seems like a reasonable pace to me:-)

I've got to say that on first viewing of the top 2 pictures, I thought you were posting something from railpictures, not of your models. Fine job.
