I have read that Intermountain used rather weak electric motors in their initial GEVOs. I think I also read they are changing to a better motor. Given they have Loksound, which I think sounds best of the choices, does anyone have info on the motors in which IM GEVOs ? Thank you

The ones that came with Tsunamis have better motors. The newer ones with Loksound/Lokpilot have the less powerful motors.

Intermountain had this same problem with the SP AC-12 steam models. The motors were very poor along other problems with the first two runs of the steam model. They seem to have this problem on more than one of their models. Larry

I have one IM GEVO from early on. Non sound. It runs ok except for the silly slowness on DC to match DCC. The engine looks nice and IM has new ones out and they are available. I guess that is a sign since they would be sold out if good. The LOK sound is really nice, but not if the engine does run well or pull.
Hopefully IM will replace the motor in future runs, and tell people!

I have three early run Gevo's, one with sound. They run and pull just fine and play well with other manufacturers engines. The NS AC Gevo, non-sound with loksound decoder, does not like to play with other engines. I'm not a fan of the loksound motor control.
