Good day everybody. It's raining and in the lower 50s here, which means that a lot of my outside plans have been cancelled, so I'll actually get some time to run some trains today.
I hope you're doing well, and for those caught in the heat wave areas, be sure to take precautions against it, and remember those fluids.

No rain on the NE coast but we had some over the weekend, which we needed. My honey do projects inside are caught up so I need to tend to the outside on Tuesday. And we'll watch some of the Olympics tonight.

Our weather is warm again for a few days so we plan on going up to Tahoe on Friday to beat the heat at the higher elevation. It is cool in the summer and even colder in the winter at Tahoe! Larry

The heat and humidity are still the order of the day in southeastern, NC. Clouds aplenty, thunder booming in the distance and nary a rain drop has fallen here the past two afternoons/evenings. Other parts of the County and surrounding areas seem to have taken a pounding as far as the t-storms are concerned. Not long been home and just finished supper. Have to pick Adam up at 11:00. Did get out back and run a train for a while yesterday afternoon, but the heat & humidity are just too much for the a/c and fan. I still have about 1/3 of a box of freight cars left to unpack, but not near enough room to store them. Still looking about for a place to find additional storage space. Grass needs mowing, but it's wet and I get home too late. Hopefully one day this week........ Hope that everyone had a good day.

Good Monday Morning to all the Forum Folks. Sun's out & it's hot & humid. Coffees & teas are brewed, and pitchers of iced tea are made for those that can use it. Eggs are ready for your order and the bacon & sausages are fried up. There's also some home fries, grits and cereal to go with the donuts and fruit on the counter. The drinks are in the cooler as we await your arrival. Hoping to get out back and run a train or two and who knows what else. Have to take the son to work at 6:30 and pick him up at 11:00. Been making him do a good bit of driving so he can try for his license later this month. He's going to need it if LD and I are able to get back to Illinois this October. The rains that having been missing us made a dramatic appearance at 6:15 yesterday evening. Mother nature made up for the light rains/sprinkles we had while surrounding areas were drenched, by soaking us for a good 45 minutes of heavy downpours. It was a small, localized storm, as areas 5 miles north, east & west of us got little to none and it extended about 8 miles south of us. Of course it all came after LD & I watered the plants in the morning. We have more chances for afternoon rain/storms for the next few days. Hope that everyone has a good day.

It is Monday the 13th and the weather is hot in California. Reno had the Hot August Nights car show this past weekend and old restored cars are still going west on Int 80 even today. The Union Pacific had their annual Family Days here in Roseville on Saturday and the temperature was close to 104 or so. Their picnic looked like fun except for the heat, but it was well attended. One of the major attraction was the 1983 and three passenger cars including a dome to haul passengers from Roseville to Newcastle and back. They ran the special four or five times on Saturday and took 100 passengers each time for a nice short trip on a dome car. They used a push pull type operation with a GE 7771 on the other end. The pictures were taken after the party and the tents were being removed. The Union Pacific always does a nice picnic day for their employees and retired workers here in Roseville. Larry
