Amtrak commissioned KATO to produce the Veterans P42 in N scale. This project was done under license with the US Army Trademark Licensing program, as they own the rights to the service ribbons (and doing the model without those would defeat the purpose). This was a bit of a departure from other projects due to it involving the Department of the Army, Amtrak, and two manufacturers (Athearn is producing it for Amtrak in HO scale). By federal law, licensing fees paid to the U.S. Army for use of its trademarks provide support to the Army Trademark Licensing Program, and net licensing revenue is devoted to U.S. Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs. It's also worthy to mention Amtrak has made a goal to have 25% of new hires be veterans ( jobs.amtrak.com for anyone interested in checking out current postings). Kato did a BEAUTIFUL job with this pre-production sample (photos posted below). It can only be purchased through Amtrak, link here: store.amtrak.com/ProductDetail.aspx?did=17265&pid=160217This project has been a long time in the making with a lot of collaboration between several entities, and so far it is shaping up to be awesome! A big shout out to everyone involved at the DoA, Athearn and Kato. Will there be a Veterans ACS-64 model? That depends largely on how well this one does.

These started shipping a couple of weeks ago if anyone is interested. I've noticed the N scale forum doesn't turn nearly as quick as the HO forum here. Where have all the N scale folks gone?

I see that you joined 11/21/12, have 48 posts and are still considered a 'New Member". I joined 5/2/12 and am also considered a "New Member", even though I visit the site & sign in nearly every day. Think that might have anything to do with it? Don
