Things around here seem to be chugging along quite nicely. Lot's of great postings and super Photo's. I find the picture clarity to be much better here than other places for some reason. I hope everyone is busy Networking, getting the word out. A couple of selling points to be mentioned in addition to the friendly people are the fact that there is no tricky Math question to deal with during registration and also for some reason this forum is not blocked as a restricted web site by the IT guy who works down the hall. Most others are. Not that anyone would read forum postings at work, but it's nice to know that you could if you wanted to.;-)

Hugh, I'm really enjoying watching this new forum get started. I think that this is what most of us on the other forum really wanted. We didn't want our "family" to be broken up, and now it doesn't have to be.

Carl, that's got to be one of the earliest N scale engines.

Yep, bought it in 1972ish. The frame is still good. I use it to pull the "Name the Orangutan" contest prize (Atlas Kaolin tank car) which I won for naming "Dee" (Dee Rayle) on the Atlas board years back. I must repair the front steps, and the headlight wire to motor connection, though. I wonder If I dare alter the tender to use Kat caboose trucks for pickup... ;D

Hi Carl I was thinking about you just the other day, trying to remember your name (cut me some slack... I'm almost 62) and wondering how you were doing. Anyhow, Dee has something to say... Hmm... Thank you for my name. I can't tell you how many track-laying jobs I lost because of it...

Hi, Dee. But you do keep mainlines safe, from free rolling pizza cuttered freight cars ,as they roll the wrong way!

carl160, I just saw this thread and had to add something. I have an Atlas/Rivarossi 0-8-0 like that one I bought in 1969. It still runs, but had to have the frame rebuilt per Doug Gosha's A1G site. It sat in a box for 32 years without being run. I though it was a goner, until I found Doug's rebuild procedure. I bought one on the "Bay" for just the frame, but it was toast too. I rebuilt that one too and found a tender at my LHS, stroke of luck! I still run many Atlas/RR A1G loco's. Regards Charley.

And remember, the little Rivarossi 0-8-0 was THE first American prototype based N scale steam locomotive.
The Treble-O-Lectric Baldwin 0-8-0 was based on an American prototype too and, of course, was earlier and runs on 9mm track but is technically OOO scale @ 1/152.
