I have lost track of good train stores in the LA region?
Any help would be appreciated.

Well there are several, depending on what part of LA you are visiting. Near LAX is Allied Model Trains, which is a shadow of its former self, but still a good store. It is on Sepulveda in Culver City. In the San Fernando Valley there are three stores that come to mind. The first is the Roundhouse on Victory Boulevard. It is an old fashioned store that has tons of stuff, but is crowded. They have a ton of consignment merchandise. In Burbank there is Train Shack on Hollywood Way. Good store but for some reason nobody says it is their #1 favorite store. It is about 20 minutes from the Roundhouse in North Hollywood. There is another store in Burbank called Burbank House of Hobby on Victory Boulevard. Mostly N scale, but they have number of HO vehicles. Nice folks. Finally there is The Original Whistle Stop, Inc. on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. This is a fabulous shop and is a must see. There also are several stores near and in Orange County, but I am not as familiar with those.

There is also Arnie's Trains and Milepost 38, in Westminster and Anaheim, respectively.

There is also Arnie's Trains and Milepost 38, in Westminster and Anaheim, respectively. The list of train shops still active in the greater LA area is impressive. We moved out of that area 9 years ago, but still visit two of the shops fairly often, at least in reservations and watching their lists for brass items. I hope they all continue well and the local modelers appreciate the fact they have some of the best of the best!!! Larry

If you see one store, I'd rate Whistle Stop in Pasadena as my first choice for sure. Great selection of just about everything (it's rare I go there and don't come out with what I needed).

Thanks. I am taking good notes. Between this and some train watching I am making a schedule.

Thanks for the nice words....we really try to keep items in stock and to search out new and unique inventory.
It is a tall order sometimes with the manufacturing and retail challenges.

Keith--I don;t get a chance to stop by your store very often, but it is a treat everytime I do.

My first thought was that it looks like a mini-Caboose Hobbies. Great selection of products in a nice, clean, comfortable-looking store. I hope I'll have a chance to visit one day. Dave
