Allied models caught fire last night suffering severe damage even though the fire was knocked down by Culver City FD in five minutes. Lets see, disgruntled partners, bankruptcy, building not being in a very desirable location, let the speculation, rumors, second guessing, begin.

Well the funny part is the "speculation, rumors, second guessing," began with you, the original poster. Saying this, "Lets see, disgruntled partners, bankruptcy, building not being in a very desirable location," is certainly starting the rumor and speculation. But it is not my business and I have nothing vested in it so I couldn't care any less what the cause of the fire was.
P.S. - I heard that Gary Coleman got real mad and actually lite the fire.

Yeah, some one has to get the ball rolling, may as well be me! As for Gary Coleman, I guess Allied was one of the very few dealers still willing to take Gary's checks.

Gary Coleman died some years ago, RIP Probably more to do with bad luck. Ah, you've never heard of zombies...they live! Mainly to eat your brain and perhaps commit arson. Sounds like suspicious circumstances to me. But if a zombie Gary Coleman is wandering around, they've got bigger problems in SoCal than a fire or two.

I read he worked at a train shop or two back when he was alive; was it Caboose Hobbies?

I was in Allied many years ago when Allen owned it in the largest store ever built for model trains, and Gary was in the store picking up some N scale. They had to call a cab for him when he left since he did not drive. It was not the largest train store unless you added built for. ]\ I would have to think that fire is being investigated and if a big insurance policy was in effect, look out! Larry

I once saw Gary Coleman at Allied in the old store. He was upset about something and was dropping f bombs at the top of his voice for about 20 minutes before he stormed out.
The fire adds to the intrigue about the store going away.
