Viewing the Intermountain web site today, I noticed Intermountain has placed some new pre-production model photos of the Burlington Northern Bi-Level Auto Rack see link, www.intermountain-railway.com/autorackdetails.htmI have done 3 Plano Model conversions of Walthers upgraded auto racks for full see through effect and let me tell you they take allot of effort. These look like they are going to be nice, i cant believe that they managed a design that allows doors to open. I cant remember the last time a got a plain ole box car that had opening doors. I really hope those doors don't break off, I'm looking forward to getting 4 of these. Regards, Brian.

Those are really looking good. I'm planning to buy the four CSX numbers initially and then more later as I can afford them. There's no doubt that these are expensive, but having watched tons of autoracks roll by from trackside, I can't wait to watch the same see-through effect on the models. I still need to upgrade a couple of the Walthers tri-levels that I bought Plano panels for a while back.

Brian: I agree it is going to be a very sharp looking car. The side panels look great. I think that was an area of concern for a lot of us. I also, would be worried about opening the end doors more than a few times.
I have the 4 BN's on order, maybe they will arrive shortly. If they are as good as the photos indicate, I will be quite pleased, even at the rather elevated price. I probably will eventually buy a couple of other roads, but not right away. The improved Walther's cars Bi levels don't look that bad. Bill

Wow. These will be tempting. I hope they have a way to make is so the metal sides stay attached. How much are these to be priced at?

They do look nice, but many/most of them appear to be too knew - we really need some late 70's and early 80's racks.

They're doing a lot of older schemes, like ATSF, SP, SOO, CN, GT, and CP, but they are including later rebuilt / inspection dates on them. It looks like Rio Grande is ok though. Dave

It looks like Rio Grande is ok though. Dave Yes, I did notice D&RGW has the pre-1991 TT logo and that is good. As it is I already have 4 autoracks using the pre-1991 logo from Walthers (3 bi-level and 1 tr-level). So while it's nice they are doing a couple of pre-1991, maybe more, they essentially look like the Walthers cars I already have and frankly can't afford to replace at those prices. Just like the new Tangent cars, I can only justify buying new detailed cars and paying the cost if it is something that doesn't duplicate something I already have. *sigh* Anyway, I may or may not pick up one of them. Certainly they look great but are going to be prioritized behind many other things and realistically not bought for a goodly while.
