WOW! A big (well...sort of) Seaboard Coast Line herald "sticker"! Look at those vibrant white, black and red ink colors! Wondering if that herald was produced on an ALPS Printer? Sharp looking and bold. Lot of thought, planning and risk had to go into this. Hey.....forget BNSF, UP and NS! No way UP 1996 can even come close to this. This is the show stopper! People at grade crossings are going to gasp.....stare....and point whenever #256 cruises by. Looks like it was budget-busting expensive! I hope CSX's efforts didn't break the bank and totally freak out the bean counters. They're under enough stress as is. Hmmmmm.....oh yeah....got to still give the good ol cheer of support: "Yo....way to go CSX! Just keep up the good work!
(Yawwwwwwwwwwn)

They aren't meant to be heritage units, they're just doing it for the same reason as UP, so they can keep the copyrights to the old logos. Just didn't feel like dumping as much money into it as UP. Be glad they're doing anything at all!

Ok....... kidding and sarcasm aside, I understand that CSX's primary goal is to be profitable and efficient (seemingly..in that order). However, considering the number of Heritage-schemed units that we have seen over the past decade from the other railroads.......CSX, in this case, metaphorically looks like the ultra-tightwad millionaire schlep that shows up to a formal, elegant party wearing an old pair of shorts, faded polo shirt, shoes with dry-rotted heels, but sporting a brand new pair of Lugano Diamond sunglasses! Of course, because he's still a business "mover-and-shaker" he doesn't care. The guests present won't tell him how embarrassing he appears and quietly laugh. Quote-SD80mac: "Be glad they're doing anything at all?" - end quote. Nah! Me personally, if this half-hearted effort is how CSX chooses to recognize its ancestry, I'd rather they not do anything at all. Scene: Robert DeNiro, holding a CSX offical by the face during a marketing and sales dept meeting: "Ay! Yeah, you! If you gonna try somethin.....do it with class, or fug-ged about it! OK?! Don't ever do this again....Capice?!" Then gives him two short, hard smacks on the cheek. (One idea that's likely been shot down is to take CSX unit #7764, the LAST remaining original SCL U36B on the roster, and repaint her back into her factory scheme. That would be one heck of a heritage acknowledgement!)

The news story is also 2 months old. If it is old I just heard about it and the article is new. Just read about it in the recent latest Trains magazine. Me, I will see if I can spot any of these. I wonder if they will show up on heritageunits.com? The diversity in motion units don't, so I doubt it.

Apparently you've never actually looked at Heritageunits.com, because the Diversity In Motion units and the units with heritage emblems are there... Me, I will see if I can spot any of these. I wonder if they will show up on heritageunits.com? The diversity in motion units don't, so I doubt it.

Actually, you posted a link and the linked article clearly states August 11, 2015. About 2 months ago. I get you just saw it. But on the internet, 2 months ago is long past dead. The news story is also 2 months old. If it is old I just heard about it and the article is new. Just read about it in the recent latest Trains magazine. Me, I will see if I can spot any of these. Be glad they're doing anything at all! You're thinking about trademarks, like logos, designs, or the "thing" itself. Not copyrights. Copyrights are in effect for a fixed period of time and do not need to be defended by use. Trademarks need to be protected by use. Whether or not that's the case here is speculation. Occam's razor says it's just plain ol' marketing- "and why not?"

Sure not the same as the NS reprint of the EL unit.

I am NOT impressed by the so called Chessie heritage unit... www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=4312022Compared to what always frugal NS has done, that is an embarrassment to past and current railroaders. I have been a CSX fan since day one and I think whoever came up with that lousy cheapo half-azzed attempt should be given two weeks notice of their release and be forced to wear a dunce cap the entire time...
