Out of curiosity here. Does anyone offer MLW’s ZWT, DOFASCO or GE’s FB Trucks to fit the following locomotives CONCOR’s SD45,ALCO C636, MINITRIX’s FM, GE U28C,U30GG, the 1980’s-2000’s BACHMANN , ATLAS /mehano made SD45’s and GP40’s? All in N-Scale of course.

Hi Tom Briggs Models made a kit to convert the Atlas C-630 trucks (Trimounts) to the 3 axle Dofasco truck for an MLW M-630/636. I have converted C40-8 trucks and Flexicoils to Alco 3 axle Hi-Ads. The above photo is a Briggs M-630 Kit modified to a CP Rail M-636, and it has the Dofasco trucks. Briggs also made an M-420 Kit which has MLW ZWT sideframes to fit an Atlas U-boat. I may have spare M-420B and 3 Axle Dofasco truck Kits if you are interested. I think both are now hard to find. Cheers Steve NZ

All, The reason why I was asking about Locomotive Trucks was also my early attempt at using Freight car / Passenger Car Trucks or their -side frames- on locomotives . the link here GT22 -http://emdexport.railfan.net/GA8draw.html - and the N-SCALE locomotives from the 1970'S - Early to the Late 1990'S ? the GA8 had ASF A-3 trucks with Chain drive. not sure if they were 50 or 70 Ton trucks ? some really strange locos from EMD,would expect that sort of drive from a Porter, Davenport, or Atlas, not EMD. Spikre

Spikre They almost resemble Freight Car Trucks , I bet one could substitute Freight Car Trucks if one were to build a EMD GA8 .

Tom, according to DSG-2 they were modified Freight car trucks. if the Wheelbase was 5'6" they were 50 ton trucks. if the wheelbase was 5'8" they were 70 ton trucks. whatever they were, they used 33" wheels, but will recheck that. dont have plans here, just going by shown pic in DSG-2. Spikre
