Guys,
Here's the follow up video to my "How to Make Easy Hills & Mountains for Model Train Layouts and Dioramas" video. This one shows the technique I use to make scenery on my HO scale Colorado Joint Line layout. Let me know how you think the scene turned out.
Cheers,
Kevin

The question i have is the paint actually going to hold all that scenery material down and in place. My procedure is to spray ground cover with modge podge then when dry selectively glue down scrubs ,bushes etc. Rocks and that type of material put down with the ground cover and also sprayed with the flat modge podge diluted with water in a sprayer. Trees then added by drilling or poking when everything dry and glued in place. I like everything firm in place so i can vacuum and clean down the road. Nice video, just had a question on how ell this all stays down with paint as it appears it becomes quite a layer of material. Steve

Great video and that layout looks good!
About the only thing I would do different is spray down the scenery with Scenic Express matte medium, before the trees and other large vegetation. I tend to build modules though that get turned over, so vegetation can go adrift...

Steve Steve, The paint, combined with the texture of the batting, holds the paint surprisingly well. Again, for a portable layout, I'd spray the area with matte medium to help hold the upper layers in place. But the paint does a great job on the first several layers of fine ground foam. Glad to hear you liked the video. Cheers, Kevin

However, for a stationary layout I've found that I don't have to lock every piece of ground foam into place. The technique I showed in the video can withstand some vacuuming too without destroying the scene. Cheers, Kevin
