In the face of the incorrect BLI sound that's installed in my trusty Blue Line SD9...it crosses my mind to eliminate the whole operating system. The current machine has lights and a speaker, of course, but what about using different DCC components? I have a Digi. SDH166 with dual sound capability...including a N/A EMD V16. I guess it's really a 645 model, but it would be pretty close. I'm guessing that if I was to hook the BLI speaker to the Digi., it would probably work...ditto with the lights. OTOH, there may be a replacement system that removes the Frankenstein effect, and supplies a good 567 N/A sound package, along with a good fit to the current shell and frame for this model. Paragon 2 fits, and works quite well, but is it even available as a separate module, and at what price? If any of you DCC operators had this chooch, what would you be inclined to do? Thanks!

Update.....I can get a new Paragon 2 decoder from BLI for $50. shipped. They'll program it to whatever file U want. This would be good, as all the plugs would make it a simple swap. Still looking to see what else might be an appropriate choice. Heard good things about ESU new stuff.

All the plugs will not make it a simple swap, as the connections go to other things between the Paragon 2 and Blueline decoders. A possible better fix, which I did, is to send in the Blueline decoder, and ask them to program sounds from their F unit Blueline files. It sounds much, much better, and only cost me $2.50 in return postage.
