This is the brake gear and hand brake linkage on my Butadiene tank car. The car is six axle, thus the complex linkage.

Ah, the weekly thread for the modelers, as opposed to the whine and cheese crowd - Thanks for starting it! Nick Molo has posted a nice pic of my General American RBL on his Facebook page, thanks Nick! www.facebook.com/molocotrains/ I didn't finish anything this week so here are some shots of recent stuff - When I shoot pics there are always multiplies so I have more than one to choose from. Dave Hussey's excellent Cannon & Co GN 7+8 door boxcar kit. An Atlas tank car upgraded with Plano end ladders and walkway, weathered for the mid '70s. The water in the background is Puget Sound, a large inlet that leads out to the Pacific Ocean. One of three Athearn SD45's I finished earlier this year. Another shot of my recently finished GP30. This was taken early on a somewhat cloudy morning and I like the somewhat softer light on it. Since sunlight is ever changing I enjoy shooting outdoors a great deal, you never know what Mother Nature is going to give you work with!

Bobby, your piping and rodding work is just magnificent. Finally finished some cars this week! Second Rock Island Evans Rebuild of old 1944 AAR Boxcars from various railroads. Made a new side sill as they were reinforced for the application of the 8' Door on the car. Car is a Branchline 1944 AAR Boxcar kit, did not install the roofwalk and changed out the plastic sill steps for A-line sill steps. Painted car with a mixture of Floquil PC Green darkened with Dark Green Paint. Lettered car with decals by Mask Island Decals. Atlas 52' Blue Island Reefer kit, painted with Scalecoat II B&M Blue Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. Another view of my Athearn PRR GP9's on the Strongsville OH Club layout. Thanks for looking, Rick Jesionowski

Mark, Excellent job on the Dave Hussey GN box car - very nice! As always spot on weathering.
Rick, didn't Atlas offer a B&M version of their Evans 50' box car? Or was there errors in their paint job/lettering that made you want to paint and letter your own? Excellent job btw!

Nice work, fellows! With Veteran's Day coming up, I've been taking some pics of my troop train. This one has four-stripe power leading, although #5531 as a wreck rebuild/repaint following an incident in late 1953 means it would have been very unlikely to have pulled any of the old school troop Pullmans and kitchens in this garb. This consist will be running at my monthly second Wednesday ops session on the 11th. If you're in the Central Illinois area and would like to drop in on Wednesdays, send me a PM and we'll arrange it. Mike, really like that troop train. Are those the Walthers troop cars?
As an aside, D&RGW converted troop cars into MOW cars and I've always wanted to have 3 or 4 painted up in MOW gray or silver, can't remember which paint they were in.

They're silver, but they chalk off to gray - The Walthers car is a great starting point for one (I have one finished somewhere!) and it's an easy project.

Jim F - Never knew they did that car in B&M, I have a bunch of undecs and a bunch of HK decals, so I just picked the decal and then the car to do. I noted that Atlas did their car in an earlier time period and had the first COTS label, mine is later with the 2nd COTS label. (I also note that it is usually easier and cheaper to pickup an undec than a decorated car in some paint schemes).
Jim, I an bowling another night this year and not getting the work done I usually do.

Got half a dozen Pullmans and two Troop Kitchens, plus I have a conventional Pullman car to bring up the rear as officer's territory. Makes a nice pike-sized train. IIRC, they weren't really used for the Korean War, plenty of capacity and most had either been sold off or stored in poor condition. Of course, on the Four Corners Division, some things hang in there longer than on the prototype... Tbird's done a great job on his conversion. I've been tempted a time or two and eventually may convert one or two to MOW service. They really are one of the signature cars of the Rio Grande and it's not too often you see a MOW car qualify. Truth be told, I really find narrowgauge MOW more interesting, but I do dabble so may get around to that eventually, given I have plenty of raw material. They are beautiful models, although I had a heck of a time getting the two kitchens open to add lighting. Finally learned the trick and it was easy then. I'll likely get a few sleepers lit, too, but very low level compared to the kitchens where the KP crew and cooks are busy getting ready to feed everyone.

Thank you Ryan. I don't have any build photos, but have these. The trucks on this car are Union Terminal Imports brass. The trucks I did are on my DUPX Tetrahydrafuron car.
