Tonight at about 8 PM on the ScaleTrains web site I put 8 items in my cart and went all the way through to the checkout... Filled in shipping info... Filled in payment info... Only on final step (clicking on the complete order button) to get error message on credit card because the site wasn't accepting valid credit cards (because it was in some type of test mode). Repeated 5 more times (thought I might be too early or there was a connection issue) - same error. Unfortunately there was absolutely nothing on main web site itself about delay of preordering to Friday - only a link to their FB page where at 7:45 PM it still said at several locations they would accept preorders 11/17 at 8 PM EST.
Then at 8:20 PM I saw the posting made on Trainorders at 8:13 about the delay to Friday night...
I hope not too many others had that issue. And I hope those that did aren't going to walk away because of it. The only potential issue I noticed in filling the shopping cart was that the quantity discount wasn't showing on the tank cars at 6 cars.
Still, I'll try again on Friday night because I think the ScaleTrains products will be worth it... (and the bit of frustration tonight)

I suspect with the return from the show, and the overwhelming response to their announcements, that the 11/17 date was simply too ambitious. Hopefully they will have it sorted out by Fri. night. Does any one know all the road numbers for the Turbines yet???

jaygee and others... Last night for at least a short time I was able to get to the product pages on the ScaleTrains site. They had 12 UP Turbine alternatives that could be added to shopping cart:
#1, #5, #7 and #14 were shown available in Rivet Counter level without DCC/sound ($424.99 each) #1, #5, #7 and #14 were shown available in Rivet Counter level with DCC/sound ($574.99 each) #18, #26, #27 and #30 were shown only available in Museum Quality level ($724.99 each)
Roadnames in the crude tank cars are TILX, VSMX, GATX, DPRX. Each had 12 numbers in Rivet Counters level at $38.99 and each had 12 different numbers at Operator level at $22.99 (the Operator level is most easily distinguished in the graphics and photos as they are missing all of the yellow conspicuity striping)
They also showed 21 different roadnames/schemes - with 2 or 3 numbers each - in the Evans boxcars ($13.99 each)
Similar to Tangent, it appears the ScaleTrains product line will be available at some select hobby shops. I think those hobby shops will be getting something closer to a 10-15% discount instead of the old larger (40-50%) discounting that used to be seen in the old style distribution. So the pricing should be similar at the shops as it is to the "discounted" pricing shown direct from ScaleTrains.

Since it is only preordering at this moment, just so there's no panic in the cyber aisles, what's the cut-off date for preorders on these items?
Not that I need, or can afford, a turbine, but they are some might fine models. Looking forward to seeing them in action sometime.

The latest per Shane/Scale Trains Facebook page:
"The ScaleTrains.com crew is excited to share we've found a work-around which allows us accept preorders without requiring payment at checkout. We'll be ready to accept preorders Friday evening at 8pm EST.
If you're unable to place an order on Friday, there's no need to worry. Based on our previous industry experience, we feel we have a healthy quantity of models on order with the factory. If we're blessed and preorders exceed our expectations, we will make sure all orders placed by Sunday, December 6th are filled completely.
Also, we have set aside a quantity of models for select retailers. Within the next few days, we will be reaching-out to these retailers with information about our company and ordering details.
Thanks for your patience and understanding as we experience a few growing pains.
The ScaleTrains.com Crew"

....And indeed the system is up and functioning. I was able to place part of my overall order with Scaletrains last night at 20:14; the other half with the LHS. Looks OK from here !

For the Pittsburgh area, contact Hobby Express on Rt. 228 in Cranberry. 724 779 2000. All my tankers will come from them, and other stuff too.
