I don't believe you. You must have gotten a kickback from somebody to make you say you like it!
*Now, where's that 'sarcastic' smiley?*...
Seriously, Loksound has really improved their sound files a lot over the last couple of years. I was even surprised when I let myself get talked into a new QSI sound decoder, they also have really improved. People not buying stuff that isn't very good seems to work sometimes.

Terry, Last year when I went to the RPM meet in Connecticut, Matt at LokSound was just starting on the file for GP38/38-2's. I heard a bit of it and was impressed then. Last night I finally downloaded the file and plugged it into my decoder. I was overly impressed with it. I just could not believe what I was hearing. I just cannot stress enough how great it sounds. And his horn files, Nothing compares other than the real thing. Just perfect. I do understand the lengths Matt is going through to get these files fine tuned and as far as I am concerned, I am 100% in LokSounds corner. Sound realism at its best and easy installation to boot. Small size sound decoders for tighter spaces. Yes, I am swimming in kickbacks from just about every manufacturer you can think of. Really I am! Brian

Yes, but Intermountain did not produce LokSound. Again, Nothing Intermountain creates is good.
I understand that there are differing opinions on this. My opinion says Intermountain should just go away. We could hash this out all day until the moderator locks the thread. So my opinion is just that and there is nothing you or Intermountain can do to change it. Unless of course if IM actually pulls their head out of their....... That might change it, but I am counting on that ever happening. You can dress up a turd all you want. The base product is still a turd.

I could go into all the "stuff" wrong with the ones I have, like broken handrails, or handrails that break when you breathe too heavily upon them, the "third time is the charm" cab forward, etc.

A) Well, I disagree regarding the comment that "Intermountain should go away". Although there were some flaws, me (and a number of southeastern modelers I know) are grateful to Intermountain for having produced a smooth running GE U-18B, especially since our requests were repeatedly put on the back burner by the other manufacturers. Some of us had been asking for a decent U18B since the 1980s and were convinced that if anyone would produce a U18B, it would be Atlas! (Cut to cartoon scene of Crickets chirping in the forest). Nope...didn't happen. Hats off to Intermountain.
B) Regarding LokSound. No doubt an excellent product! The V4.0 is an impressive performer and seems to have helped put ESU Loksound on top of the DCC-Sound food chain. When Athearn debuts the SDP40F, I intend to purchase a pair of non-sound versions and equip them with Loksound setups.

Just like anything, it depends with Intermountain. They make a lot of freight cars I need and there aren't better alternatives presently, such as the 57 mechanical R-70-20 reefers and numerous other freight cars.
Getting back to the topic, I have not been a big sound nut thus far but when I've heard some really impressive loco's lately, they have all been Lok Sound. The older QSI and even the Tsunami have been medocre in comparison. The only Loksound engine I have is my only steam engine, the IMR 3rd run Cab Forward AC-10, the rest are a small number of QSI (3) or Tsunami (2). In the coming year I would like to obtain a diesel Loksound.
