Good afternoon. We might as well start our week on a Monday... I got the pieces I bought at the "yard sale" on Saturday installed on the layout. Now that I have a nice looking diesel shop, and no turntable, my Walthers three stall roundhouse is surplus. Maybe I can find somebody that needs one I can swap something I need for it.

Good morning everybody.
I learned a lesson long ago, to never sell off something like that if I have room for it. These layouts have a tendency to change and expand, and someday you may need that roundhouse. One thing that might be fun, is to still use it on your layout, but re-purpose it. That would be fun as a mall, skating rink, or theater.

Good Evening to all the Forum Folks.
Woke to rain and fairly heavy showers at times. It lasted till late morning with lighter showers. Still have 70% & 60% chances of rain the next 2 days. Had a busy morning at work, mostly dealing with unhappy people. I wasn't able to make them happy, either.
I did run trains for a good bit, yesterday. Had to pull out the turnout I installed on Saturday and replace it, as the loco kept stalling on the frog. Still don't know what caused it nor why. It all works fine, now.

Hmm, I've noticed we can't multi-quote posts. A small thing, though. Anyway, the roundhouse already was repurposed into a diesel shop, with the turntable pit "filled in", and two of the three stalls used. The third stall had no track going to it, and a pile of junk and weeds in front of the door. It looked cool, but I wanted three working stalls, and no turntable. So, I now have three working stalls, no turntable, and a two track fuel rack. The third track has a standpipe for the occasional steam excursion engine that rolls through. And no fancy electronics to fail.

Your imagination can fill in the blanks, though. It is a Walthers 3 stall roundhouse, with the two outer stall connected to track via a wye track, with a grey-painted "ridge" where the turntable would have been. Different colored dirt and weeds inside the circle, and junk piled in front of the center door. I came up with this option when my brand-new Walthers 90' turntable bit the dust 5 minutes or less after I installed it. I'll have to remember to start taking photos of this stuff before I change it, some others may also want to see.

You can tell Summer is still in full swing here. That and fighting the crowds at the mall buying school stuff for the kids. Maybe after Labor Day, it'll pick up in here again. Which is good, because I don't care for drinking recycled coffee. For those of you that don't know, recycled coffee is rebrewed and reheated with some fresh grounds tossed in. Not to be confused with used coffee...

Good Morning All!
Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes on this sunny and hot Friday day other then I'm making modeling progress..This morning I painted the wheel faces and changed out Accumate couplers to KDs on two Atlas Trainman cars.I still have 14 cars that needs the wheel face painted.
I'm building two Wathers Cornerstone structures-Bud's Trucking and the unthinkable happen ..Suffice it to say I out of glue..I thought I had extra but, nope no such luck..
The bad part is I can't buy plastic glue locally so a trip to Hobby Lobby in Marion(closer) is in order and I mise as well stop at the Shovel Inn for a Walleye dinner followed by some train watching.
Tomorrow we have a open house at the club so,I be there from 9 am to around 4 pm unless I decide to leave early..
I shall have a cup and look over da forum.
Have a good'un! ;D

Have a good'un! ;D I picked up a Walthers 50's era diesel today from my local shop and hope the shop is able to stay around ignoring the closing LHS trend lately. It is a great August for us since the weather is in the high eighties and low nineties for the last week. We did have some 100 degree days mid August but that heat is gone and I can get out and take pictures of the one to one trains again without having to stand in the shade most of the time. I am working on some other projects and will continue to work on my model trains as time permits. Larry

Good morning. Happy Saturday. For many of us, it is the last weekend before the kids toddle off to school again. I'm going to have to remember to slow down for all those school zones I've been blowing through all Summer. Around here, we have no crossing guards, no flashy lights on the signs, just a sign bolted on the post below the school zone sign giving the days and times when it is a real school zone. We are having an air show this weekend near where I live, and there have been planes flying overhead already this morning. As long as I don't hear a flight of Hueys go over, I think I'll be okay. I may head over there tomorrow, and chat with some of the crews. It all depends on the crowds and the weather.
