Are the RTR hoppers announced today in BNSF, DME and FXE (Ferromex) the same cars that Athearn made in 2002-2005 in the Genesis series ? Ciao. Raffaele

Yes, these are the same cars minus the genesis roller bearing trucks with spinning caps. The BNSF and DME are basically correct for this model but the FXE are foobies. They are supposed to be the 5200cf model not the 5161cf model. While close in design there are a few major difference between the two cars namely the cut angle of the ends.

Yes. The Genesis versions came out at $35 each, high for the time. Athearn took them out of the Genesis line and lowered the price to $30 I think. They dropped a few detail parts like the spinning wheel caps.
What is the price up to now?

Sounds good to me, but then again I'll pick up almost anything DME.

The one major change that hasn't been mentioned is that Athearn converted the coupler boxes from the narrow Scale Accumate style (that everyone complained about because it wasn't Kadee compatible) to a standard "Kadee #5" style box when they moved the model to the RTR line.

WOW, the non Genesis price is now $40 and with the new small discount street price is going to be higher than the old Genesis price.
