Proto 48: Any modelers out there?

Having been out of the model railroading scene for over 15 years, I had never heard of Proto 48. Are there any Proto 48 modelers out there on this board?

I've been reading George Losse's blog about modeling Reading's Shamokin Division at:

Besides being a very informative blog for modelers of the Reading Railroad, it's also quite interesting as he is a Proto 48 modeler.

I have been giving lots of thought to entering this scale lately. The track work is what intrigues me. I like the fact that it is an exact scaled-down replica of the prototype.

I've only read a bit on Proto 48 and while I think it's pretty neat, I probably wouldn't go to that level should I ever test the waters or even take a plunge into O scale.

I do like the look, heft and feel of O scale locos and equipment. Who knows, maybe one dayyyyyy........
