I'm having trouble trying to change the address of an Atlas GP 38 with a dual mode decoder. It is set at the factory default 03, and I'm having trouble changing the address to the loco number. I can't get through all the steps as per the Digitrax instructions.
Just wondering if there is something about Atlas and Digitrax.
Also, after the last attempt, the speed seems to have changed. Originally, I could bring the throttle up, one click at a time, and the loco would start to creep. Now when I move the throttle, it starts right off, maybe just a little faster than before. I can't control how slow I can go, or how slow I want to start out at. It doesn't creep anymore, just jumps off to a start. Stopping is the same way, as it comes to a sudden stop.
Thanks, Mike.

Not familiar with decoder but heres a few tips.Reset the decoder refer to manual for CV.Reset the Zephyr sw 39.Clean wheels on unit and track if necessay.Reprogramme address. Is this a Zephyr or Zephyr X?. After reset see if it runs on default 03 first before putting in new address. Once its running to control slow speed up and slowspeed slow down programme Cv3 and Cv4.Those are the basics.Again i am not familiar with the decoder.Jerky lurching speed often caused by dirty wheels on loco, plus can be cause of non programing. Clean wheels by putting paper towel on track with alcohol on towel.Run set of wheels over it then turn loco around and do other end.Clean wheels can work wonders.Half the time you think they are clean and they are not, same with track.Steve

Mike, If you haven't found them already, the instructions for the Atlas #342 Dual Mode decoder are on the Atlas website at www.atlasrr.com/DCC/New%20HO%204-Function%20Manual%20Atlas.pdfThe instructions to reset the decoder CVs to their default values are on page 6 in the CV 8 information. The instructions for doing the required Power Reset are in the Note on page 5. Hope this helps. David

Thanks guys, and David, just what I needed. For some reason I couldn't access that on the Atlas web site. I did find it through a search, kind of like "coming in the back".
I have reset back to default, and it works fine. Instead of trying to change the address again, I'll just leave it at 03 for now. Digitrax makes a replacement board that is also sound friendly, so eventually, I'll go that route.
Mike.
