Guys i am new to the game and really enjoying Decoder Pro. Put my first sound loco on the programme track and i am not sure if you can listen to sound and specific sounds as you make the changes or do you have to make the changes then listen. It would certainly be nicer to listen to the sounds as you change the settings to suite your ear. Thanks Steve.................the guys at JMRI have done a fantastic job!.This is a great tool to enhance the hobby!

I believe it depends on your system, but I believe that most off layout programing (program track) is not with the sound operating.
Decoder Pro does has the capability to program on the layout in OPS mode as well as the program(me) track.

Probably depends on the decoder, too. I know the Tsunami has some sounds that you can hear as you adjust them in real-time. Others you will only hear the next time you activate them after adjustment. Manual tells all once you drill down to it.

I have the NCE beginner cab or whatever its called lol and decoder pro. I am able to listen to the sounds when I "write to sheet", engine will start up and you'll here what you've changed. It made changing the horn easier on my SD70ACE's.
