I have come into a set of 6 all alum. passenger cars made by Manitu. They are a bit dirty and rough but it is nothing that some good old steel wool and an air eraser can't fix. I have spent a few hours on line doing the research and the nearest body style match I can find is the Atlantic Coast Line. It's all good I can model that up but... I can not find the right decals. Micro Scale, Highball Graphics... no luck. And interior aftermarket parts are like non exsistant. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?? Thank you.

I've heard of Mantua but not Manitu.

Cleaning aluminum with steel wool can result in dots of rust where you least want them. The air eraser or some sort of bead blasting sounds like a better idea.

Here's some pictures of the Mantua cars: www.hoseeker.net/mantuainformation/mantuacatalog1959pg09.jpgThey appear to be shorties--60' or so. KMT made aluminum cars that were mid-length, like Athearn did/does. And, of course, there's the Kassiner/Herkimer cars that came as either shorties or full length. Ed

Mantua would on and off offer 80' kits if they were wanted. they also produced "Blank" bodies for the real adventurous. but finding any may be Mission Imposable. Spikre

There are two lengths of passenger cars, but the 60' ones are plastic, AFAIK. The 70' ones are aluminum extrusions, and are of better overall quality. Too short, except the baggage car.

Herkimer offered two lengths: 60' and 80'. You can see that here in the photo in the link: www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-HERKIMER-OK-HO-TRAIN-DEALERS-CATALOGS-1956-1957-/361447956222Here's a photo of a Herkimer 60' baggage: Here's a photo of some KMT cars: The above cars look to me to be 60' cars. I am "sure" my KMT cars are 70'. I bought them at the end of production (the company was disposing of all their old stock--mine were $3 each). Perhaps they decided to add 10' by then. Incidentally, the fluting and the cross-section don't match the Herkimer cars. And, I might add, my "Herkimer" cars were really Kasiner cars. Says so on the boxes. Though they are, in fact, exactly the same cars. Ed

Right... I was simply adding to the information that was presented in Ed Sutorik's post above about the Herkimer cars and the impressive feat that they are still available some sixty years later. On this page it is stated that "OK Streamliners are available in 60, 72, 80 and 85 foot lengths for all size lay-outs". CUSTOMER ADVANTAGESGood Luck, Also Ed
