Ok, this has probably been asked a thousand times, but here goes. Is there a preferred size (not ohms) but wattage. In the past I've used 1/4 watt probably because I had the room. I've got a lot of 1/8 watt, 1K, and I'm trying to squeeze sound into an SW1500 and I need all the room I can get. Obviously the 1/8 watt will not dissipate as much heat as the 1/4 Watt but is this really an issue?

I've used 1/8 watt resistors on my LEDs for years with nary a problem - but I don't run my LEDs at their full potential either. I use between 1000 and 2000 ohm resistors with white LEDs giving them between 5 and 10 milliamps, which is still plenty bright.
If you want to run white LEDs at their full potential (20ma) using a 470 ohm resistor, then you would have to bump it up to a 1/4 watt.
Mark.

I use 1/4 watt, 470 ohm resistors with my LED installs. Until recently, I got them from Radio Shack. Since RS seems to be fading into the sunset, I've turned to my LHS.

As a DCC expert friend once told me..."you'll never go wrong using a 1K resistor"

As a DCC expert friend once told me..."you'll never go wrong using a 1K resistor" That wasn't the question. Mark.
