New guys to the hobby and DCC are lucky they have ALL up todate decoders etc. I have a good number of NCE decoders and TCS decoders without decoder reset, plus probably missing to a few speed enhancing features. Caught between a rock and a hardstone as to whether or not to pull these and upgrade..............over a period of time. Not having the decoder reset is a pain especially if you want to use and explore with Decoder Pro. What do you think?. Steve

NCE has a reset function in their command station/controller programming mode. I've used it to reset decoders, altho I don't think I have any that don't have a reset cv. To find it you scroll through the selections using the program function button on the lower left corner of the controller.

I believe NCE decoder Version 3.5 and higher have reset.Any versions below that dont. Pretty much if it does not give a reset CV on back of decoder instructions Cv list it does not. Steve..................easy to tell to if you dont get adress 3 when you reset its not resetting.

I've bought TCS decoders right from when they were first introduced, and even then they had a factory reset by entering a value of 2 into CV8. This was the original A4 and T1 decoders. These were the pre-BEMF decoders, but had the dither and kick-start features which were pre-cursor to BEMF.

I sort of remember, back in the early days, a couple of decoder manufacturers used a weird CV to do a factory reset. I think Lenz had a reset of CV 5 to 2 or 1 to reset. Is there any chance an email to NCE and TCS will get you a reset CV and value?
