Well another order NWSL arrived and i must say they are a lifesaver for me. I was wondering in the new age of MR how many folks use NWSL products? From wheel replacement sets, drive line parts, wire etc i use quite a bit of their products and some of the product is good to have on hand. I really like their shipping rates. There are a few small companies that support the hobby and i do my best to supprt them. I dont immagine its an easy slog for some of these companies. I was really happy when NWSL came out with replacement gears for the Bachmann Shay. Bit of a nervy job to install but once in they did the trick. Some of the pricing from NWSL is not cheap but then you have to remember some of the product is Loco specific and its probably a bit of a lage investment in tooling etc vs return. I hope others support the small MR support companies!Steve

Folks;
"NWSL is a life saver" is an under statement. With out them a older brass locomotives would sit on selves and corrode. I have used them over the years and found them to be very responsive. New owners have done a great job with my requests. I am not sure what we would with out them.

NWSL is the cat's pajamas. They not only help you fix and improve things, they help you do more and are very responsive to customer requests.
One example is their HOn3 conversion kit for the Bachmann 70-tonner. This let's you build a DCC-equipped HOn3 loco for as little as $60, plus your labor. It came about because of a request to custom make some. Then those fellows wrote up their conversion for RMC. More requests came in and it's now a stock item.
True, you'll be better off pitching the Bachmann decoder if you want reliable performance but I can hack a $15 NCE decoder that fits and includes the lighting in half an hour. I've built two so far and have another awaiting conversion..

Oh, yeah.
F'r example: I called on the phone to discuss the proper gears to replace in my old Oriental U25B's. Those darn old nylon (or something) gears had split. So he sent me some backwards helical 9 and a half tooth 47 pitch (NO, not really--it just seemed that complicated) gears and, as Canadians say, "eh, voila."
They weren't cheap. But when you figure I talked to the guy for 20 minutes and he capitalizes all that stuff, well, it really was.
Great company. Oh, and I have one of their logging articulateds from the olden days--GREAT company.

Absolutely I use their products. What we would do without their parts in tools??

I've re-geared around a dozen brass steam engines with their gear boxes and universal joints. I've also used their can motors in a few of them. All with good results.
I did have a problem right after the buy out with worn out gear box molds and wrong sized gears, but they fixed that through the mail for me. I haven't needed anything since then, but hopefully they've worked out the bugs.

NWSL, over the years, has bailed out a good many of the OEM's mistakes which caused poor running qualities due to bad gearing. Most all of my kit bashing and remotoring or regearing projects have been with brass locos. If not for NWSL there was practically no place to get replacement parts such as gear boxes for steamers. The importers carried few if any spare parts which I think had something to do with tariffs/taxes etc. Many of the imports were limited run and after a few years passed your chance of getting any replacement parts was slim and none.
Their tool line is also top notch. I think I've got just about all of them.
