Happy Sunday Gentlemen! Here's some pics from this morning as tyhe sun came up on the West Coast. Of course the D&RGW itself didn't make it to Washington state in the '80s and '90s units showed up regularly on both the BN and UP. Here's SD40T-2 #5399 and '45 5317 In the far distance are the Olympic mountains. I'm still considering option for loads on this otherwise complete Wheels of Time SP bulkhead flat.

Managed to get a couple of cars done this week! Proto 2000 PS 4427CF High Hip Covered Hopper kit, replaced the plastic roofwalk with a Plano version after drilling all the holes and applying the new supports. Painted the car with Floquil #20 Caboose Red and lettered with Oddballs Decals. Athearn 86' 2 Door Hi-Cube boxcar, removed the cast on grabs and replaced with wire grabs, painted the car with Floquil Platinum Mist and Scalecoat II IC Orange. Lettered the car with ICG Decals by Dan Kohlberg, I checked with Dan and these cars were used to moved fiberglass panels (like under car hoods) to the final assembly plants. I just picked up these beauties off of E-bay, have not decided what railroad I will end up painting them for, but I am sort of limited has not many railroads had the dual headlights these models have. A pair of Hobbytown FA-2 A & B Units, both powered with metai bodies, should be able to pull plaster off the wall with these puppies! Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski

I had an old P2K SD60 (pre Walthers) that the shell was really beat up and it seems had mold(?) on the side. It was broken during a move back in 2008. I had a Rail power shell that was not being used...so the SD60 became SD50 8543.. added sound , new lights. Only a few more things to add to call it done.

Always a great setting to show off your work. dda.... really neat color and scheme on that F40, I take it that you have custom decals for this unit? I had the chance to do some modeling this weekend for the first time in a really long time. I'm traveling for work and brought some things along, including an undecorated ExactRail PS 7315 box car that I've been wanting to work on for a while. The model represents an early car with a straight side sill, but I'm modifying it to represent a later car with notched side sills. This involved removing the jacking pads on the side sill and the tackboards on the left door (the prototype placement of course had to be different on this second order), and then finally modifying the side sill. Here's the current state of the car (shot in my hotel room) along with a Joe Rogers photo of the prototype from the RR Picture Archives: In case anyone's interested, I'll start a separate thread to show some of the in-progress photos. The Southern also rostered 90 of these cars in series SOU 43400-43489 (class BS-103). Dave

got to finally paint in over a year. Had to rig up some kind of work area in my mothers basement. Sink/workbench Paint booth I got for christmas, works great!!! And since it was raining and humid, my small airbrush compressor kept spitting water out. So I had to bring out the big guns for today. Pluged it in, let it fill up and wheeled it indoors and ran the hose. I finally primered 5 Athearn SD60's, there fuel tanks and truck side frames and 3 Bowser 70t 2 bay hoppers that were converted into ballast hoppers. I need to finish primering those as I ran out midway through. Im going to use up all my floquil primer on what I will spray with floquil then its onto true color paints.

The Kentucky Southern added another dozen hopper cars to the coal fleet today Custom made Highball Decals were used. Instruction on returning car to Spartan Country, KYSO services the SPARTAN #1 coal mine. These cars are Walthers 36' Two Bay Offset Hoppers that came in a, so I'm told, FOOBIE Pennsy paint scheme, PRR lettering removed then cars were painted with satin black paint, decaled then dull coated. Light dusting of flat black and then some tan dirt. Trucks painted CAMO brown a roof brown equivalent and dusted with the tan dirt.

I've been building lumber loads for the WOT flats. They are pieces of pine milled to 5/16 x 1/2 and cut to 56ft long. Then scribed to various sizes with the laser 2x4, 2,6, 2x10, 4x6, 4x10 etc. on the sides and the top. Then shallow cross cut the different lengths. Followed by the tedious banding. i haven't done anything to the flats yet. Dave Hussey

The Kentucky Southern added another dozen hopper cars to the coal fleet today How did you support that second level? I can't see any brackets or supports! Super glue.... Naw.....It is screwed into studs behind the drywall, 24" on center. Is only about 6" wide 2x3 box/dominoe frame with 16" centers. A couple of wider areas around the other side of the room have some supports that will ended up hidden, I hope. Hardest part was keeping it reasonably level i.e.: perpendicular to the wall, had to shim it a little. I you can see a couple inches of shim above the reefers.

More painting done today. Ballast hoppers are being modeled after a construction companies cars. The tank cars are for NJ Transit's aqua train which uses 2 tank cars full of water and a flat car with high pressure water jets before the wheels to clean the railhead of leaf residue. Flat car is still being worked on, should be complete in a month or so. I have decals for all.
