After many years of looking for the out of print Microscale decal sheet for Burlington Northern's Pacific Pride.....I was able to purchase a set! BN had two "Pacific Pride" units. The original unit was GP38 2075. It suffered an engine fire at which time a caption in either Trains or CTC Board magazine labeled it "Pacific Fried"... BN quickly did up GP38-2 2085 as "Pacific Pride II" Pacific Pride I or #2075 was one of six GP38's ordered by SP&S but delivered at the time of the merger in standard BN paint and lettering. The step wells on these units were not standard EMD, but a step well designed more for switching. Railflyer produces or produced an etched step well kit to model this type of step. So, IF Railflyer comes through with the parts and armed with the decals and an Atlas GP38, I can accurately model #2075 or "Pacific Pride I".

That's one of my favorite parts from them. Man, if this part is discontinued, I'll make them myself!

Why are the CB&Q, Frisco, and the other heralds only on the one side? Or is the second pic a later pic after they added more? You sure have a lot of projects going on.

Something was obviously done to it. The horns and rotary beacon are in different locations between both shots.

You sure have a lot of projects going on. In this day and age you grab stuff when you find it, for you may never see it again. Then there is the WAIT......for parts, paint and even glue! I'm waiting on parts for the DD's, Fast Forty, GP9R and a few other chestnuts. On the DD's I still need one more shell, I'm going to be carving up SIX Athearn DD shells and TWO Rail Power shells to make TWO locomotives! I've been forced to spread even my Cannon parts purchases around since what one outlet has, the other hasn't and vice-verse. I've got back orders pending with my LHS and Walthers to name a few. I've supposedly got some stuff coming from Walthers, Railflyer, Kaslo, e-Bay sellers, A-Line and Highball Graphics. Its anybody's guess when the stuff will arrive. I don't expect the Walther's or Highball orders to arrive anytime before the end of the week. Kaslo in two weeks or more and Railflyer is a fingers crossed issue. I've got a lot of stuff started and set aside waiting for something. Unfortunately, in this day and age when things go out of stock, you never know if you'll ever see the part again.

I actually saw this unit in person in Spokane many years ago. I was not prepared for it and my photo isn't very good, but I do have a photo!

Nice unit for building a model that is a one of a kind. Was this unit rebuilt after the engine fire and repainted as a normal unit? Larry

It continues to this very day to wear a beat up coat of Pacific Pride paint. Sometime during either late in its BN ownership or in the beginning of its BNSF career, the step wells were rebuilt to standard EMD style. Here is a photo of Pac Pride in late July 2012

They normally run so long that the paint just fades away in some cases. Larry
