You guys remember Trainlife? The website that kinda fell to the wayside sometime a few years ago? Well apparently it's back but as a hobby shop. Maybe the second time is the charm.

I look forward to when they post the magazine database again as it was a great resource. I do like the idea of a place I can buy Exactrail plus other manufacturer's products at one location kinda like a regular hobby shop.

I hope they can figure a win win process. These old articles are a wealth of history and knowledge. The problem is there is a cost to create and maintain that needs to be allocated to the users in some fashion. This is a place for ads focused on the hobby.

Well, this is encouraging news. Those magazine archives have been sorely missed; it would be great to see them restored and expanded.
I recall reading either here or over on the Diesel Detailer that the owner of the site wasn’t too interested in getting help to fix the site. Several people approached him offline and he declined the help. I guess it just wasn't a priority.
Thanks , MJ

When the old train life was working, it was an excellent resource to look up and reference many of the great articles of MRG and RMJ magazines, two of my favorite. I have many back issues but TL had some I didn't and was so much more convenient when I needed to look something up.
So I read that ER members were the entity which purchased the rights to the magazine and set up the website. So is this new shop just a B&M outlet for ER's products now and that same shop is behind the revamp of the TL website?

I've checked out Trainlife in it's latest incarnation although I haven't tried the magazine resources, I have noticed the store front and it shows ExactRails stock which mirrors what's on ER's website, which btw, both are unreachable this morning.
ER offers free shipping for orders of $100 or more while Trainlife you have to have $200 or more for free shipping. I almost never have orders over $200 so I don't see myself ordering from TL; I've got MBK which offers economical shipping prices for me (perhaps because I'm a heck of a lot closer to MBK in MD than TL in UT. I hope ER continues to offer their $100 free shipping because it's a big help for people on a budget.
