Ok im hoping some of you guys can help me out. I need to know what kind of mounting surface is on the athearn RTR 4 axle trucks used on the GP's? Im slowly, very slowly working on a custom project that uses a SD40 frame with milled fuel tank. The frame accepts the sd40-2 trucks that have that circular portion and flat metal over the gears. Do any of the GP bloomberg trucks use this? Can anyone post pics?

I attached a pic as photobucket.com is down and I can't upload any new pics right now. Its a Athearn RTR SD38/SD40 frame, not a dash 2 frame. Attachments:

I seem to recall that the SD trucks and GP trucks are different heights, but I don't have any handy to check.

The Blombergs I've worked with have a flat tab on top that has a hole in it. The frame's bolster has a small male pin cast on it and the frame does not have the recess in it that your photo shows.

Well it looks like custom mounts are in order from a friend who does some milling.
Does anyone know what the length of a 2500 gallon EMD fuel tank is?

That is a SD40-2 frame you have there.
I think that out of the frames I know about (Athearn EMD) is that one is unique in how the truck mounts. All of the other EMD's they do in the BB line have a flat bolster with a pin. The truck is flat across the top, with a hole to locate the truck.
Regards, Brian

Does anyone have a pic of the above mentioned truck to verify its mount? If it can fit in the SD40 frame, could bloomberg b sideframe's fit and would it work?
