Hi atsfan,
There's some good info here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_SD70_series
Also, the Athearn announcement states that the units ran on NS, CSX, and Florida East Coast.
Canadian National and CIT Group also have production SD70M-2s.

Donnell Thanks Donnell for the link. I did not realize that many SD70-M-2 models had been sold. An interesting subject about the units. The Union Pacific is removing the link steering bar from many of their standard SD70M's that are being rebuilt. Does anyone know why?? All of the standard SD70M units came with the self-steering trucks on them and now that feature is being defeated if the label on the truck is correct!! Larry ' Prior to the SD70ACe and SD70M-2 models, all SD70 models were delivered with the self-steering HTCR radial truck.[2] The radial truck allows the axles to steer in curves which reduces wear on the wheels and railhead. With the introduction of the SD70ACe and SD70M-2 models, EMD introduced a new bolsterless non-radial HTSC truck as the standard truck for these models in an effort to reduce costs. The HTCR-4 radial truck is still an option.

Larry, it's probably been found it costs more to maintain the trucks than to maintain the track.
