Has any one lit the class lights in a diesel Locomotive? I am wanting to light the class lights in a Walthers GP30. Stephen

I never did it in a motorized diesel, but I have some experience with it in passenger cars. The general idea is that you want to drill out the hole for the class lights, get a colored LED and attach a piece of fiber optic cable to it, and run the other end into the hole. Glue in place and power, don't forget a resistor. The easiest way to attach the fiber optic cable is a dab of glue, then heat shrink tubing between the LED and cable to secure it in place and prevent light leak. Use a higher ohm resistor because you want classification lights, not colored headlights. Unless you want colored headlights

You could do the same thing with bi-color LEDs if you want them to display more than one color only.

I have drilled out the class light bump and then run a fiber optic to the headlight. Never have lit them individually. That would complicate the wiring beyond my needs.
I've also done obs car tail,and markers with fiber optics
